SRM

The ABZ-MOSAIC Surveillance Requirements Monitor (SRM) is a computerized modular scheduling and tracking tool for the management of periodic and event-triggered activities. The SRM system is designed to schedule surveillance tests required by nuclear power plant Technical Specifications. However, the basic system can schedule any periodic or event-triggered task.

The ABZ-MOSAIC SRM is a menu-driven, interactive system that can be easily mastered by individuals with little or no prior programming experience. Menu options allow viewing of database items (surveillance test records), updating database items, inputting plant/system conditions, running a variety of scheduling and print routines, and executing several associated utilities. Passwords and access levels ensure that only authorized users can make changes to database items. All interactions with the system must conform to pre-defined data entry templates or option selections, with context-sensitive help available at all points.

The heart of the ABZ-MOSAIC system is a planning and scheduling algorithm that acts on numerous parameters (such as time windows, responsible groups, systems involved, and so forth) to define the extent of the scheduling task and then prints the results according to a user-selected output format and sorting method. Test activities are scheduled based on user-defined plant and reactor conditions, so that only tests due for certain modes or under specific circumstances are scheduled.

Postulated plant/system conditions can be entered and used in scheduling tests to predict the impact of future plant conditions on required surveillance testing. The system also maintains a record of test performances to ensure that consecutive completions of a surveillance test are done within a time interval not exceeding 3.25 times the test interval (or 1.25 the interval for any single test completion).

ABZ provides documentation and training for the scheduling system. The documentation includes a user manual and technical reference guide. The training includes a two-day onsite course with training materials.
